Curriculum

Educational Program of the Institute

The religious studies curriculum runs in conjunction with elementary and secondary school courses and offers the following options. (A detailed description of courses is available at the Institute).

1. Memorization of the Holy Qur’an (Hifz)

Depending on the student this course extends over a period of 3 to 4 years leading to the certificate of a Hafiz. The program is tailored to build on the skills the student possesses.

2. Higher Islamic Studies (Alim)

This course extends over a 7 year period. The core courses are: Analysis of Arabic verbs, Arabic grammar and language, Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh). Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an (tafsir). The final two years are devoted to the in-depth study of Hadith.

3. Darul Ifta

In the area of religious Education, learning to read the Holy Qur’an, memorization (Hifz), and the complete Alim and Fazil courses have been taught at Al-Rashid. Now Ifta (Mufti) classes have also begun. All Praise is to Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala.

4. Elementary and High School Program

This Institute offers full courses from grades 1 to 12 inclusive. The school curriculum and courses are structured according to the guidelines and standards of the Ontario Ministry of Education. This way graduates can easily continue their education at any mainstream college or university if they wish to do so.
